The company’s name, Micro to Mainframe, is synonymous with what we did. Connect PCs to large IBM mainframe networks.

Then we took core banking systems written in COBOL and shifted them to the PC. Think about it – this is DevOps, in the 1990s.

The QA part came when we realised that we had state of the art test tools, but no one knew how to test.

To move IT from being a cost centre, constrained by time and budget, to being a business enabler. For that to happen Business, Dev, QA and Ops must have equal seats at the table of developing software for business value.

For the practitioner in the software delivery pipeline, it is about escaping the daily grind of delivering to time and budget.

Evolving to be a professional where you love what you do, you are good at it, you provide value (what the world needs) and you are rewarded for your work.
